did you ever go to w3schools.com. They have really good tutorial on html. you can use better css programming to boom the colors and play with your website.

You do not need to stop using Notepad if you know what you are doing when it comes to coding. If you want to make your web page look more professional you can use CSS. Again if you are not familiar with this, I would not suggest doing it in notepad.
It is hard to give you specific details about what you can do. You might want to look at what other people have done with websites that are similar in content to yours.

An adobe program that costs money you should be able to use css sheets and search on google template.
